Woman Laughing

Love makes your soul crawl out from its hiding place.

Zora Neale Hurston (Black woman queer anthropologist and writer)

Are you into helping your fellow citizen? Do you like to socialize and dance? You’ll enjoy Penn Museum’s Crawl Out Thursdays. Rent parties developed during the Harlem Renaissance as a means for Black tenants in the area, often targets of discriminatory rent pricing as well as low wages, to make ends meet. In the collaborative tradition of 20th century rent parties, this co-sponsored happy hour is a chance to sip, dance and turn up for the benefit and love of your favorite Philadephia-based community organizations. Come out, listen to some great music, meet friends old and new, and get down in support of good work!
